R.A. Torrey (1856–1928) was an American evangelist, pastor, educator, and author. He served from 1889 to 1908, as the first superintendent of Moody Bible Institute. Torrey was the dean of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles from 1912 to 1924. From 1915 to 1924, he was the founding pastor of the Church of the Open Door.
