Eternal life is the gift of knowing God through Jesus Christ, offering a present relationship with Him that extends into an everlasting, resurrected life in heaven. It is a free gift, not earned, enabling believers to pass from death to life and gain liberation from sin and ultimate judgment.
What is Eternal Life?
Relationship, Not Just Duration: It is defined as “knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ”.
Present Reality: While completed after death, it begins the moment one believes in Jesus, marking a transition from spiritual death to life.
A Gift of Grace:
It cannot be earned through human effort or works, but is received through faith.
Physical Resurrection: It culminates in the future when bodies are resurrected and reunited with spirits, living in a restored creation without death, pain, or sickness.
Key Benefits
Relationship with God: Ongoing fellowship, intimacy, and presence with God.
Security: Believers are promised safety, as described by Jesus: “they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand”.
Abundant Life: It offers a life of satisfaction, peace, joy, and freedom from darkness.
