Salvation: Robb Moser
Genesis to Revelation Bible Blogs
Eternal salvation is the Christian belief in a permanent, irrevocable deliverance from sin, death, and hell, granted by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It represents a gift of everlasting life that cannot be earned by works or lost once received, often referred to as "once saved, always saved" or eternal security.
Key aspects of eternal salvation include:
Foundation in Grace: It is a free gift from God, not achieved through human merit or works.
Source in Christ: Jesus Christ is the sole author and source of this salvation, achieved through his death, resurrection, and ongoing intercession.
Security:
Believers are considered adopted into God’s family and sealed by the Holy Spirit, meaning they are saved forever.
Meaning: It involves being saved from the penalty and power of sin, as well as from the wrath of God.
Assurance: Many Christians believe they can have total confidence in their salvation, as it depends on Christ’s ability to save rather than their own performance.
While some interpretations emphasize the security of the believer, others point to biblical warnings against falling away, which some interpret as evidence that those who fall away never truly had saving faith.
