The 1970s Jesus Movement was a massive, countercultural revival where thousands of "hippie" youth in the U.S. and beyond converted to evangelical Christianity seeking purpose outside of drugs and societal norms. Rooted in southern California, it featured "Jesus Freaks" and pioneered contemporary Christian music.
